This is a school with a difference.
In fact, you'll find many differences at The Prairie School:
A CHILD-CENTERED SCHOOL
At Prairie, we care for each child as an individual, each recognized for his or her distinctiveness - a special combination of talents, personalities, and abilities. We celebrate the rich diversity of our students and encourage them to explore their individual pursuits on a road to lifetime success.
A TOP-NOTCH FACULTY
Faculty members bring not only a keen expertise within their discipline, but also an energy dedicated to the Prairie philosophy of nurturing the individual. Faculty skills are sharpened on an ongoing basis with advanced classes and seminars, both on- and off-campus.
AN ACTIVE, PARTICIPATORY LEARNING STYLE
Learning should be thrilling, an exploration that leads to an exciting discovery. To capture that experience means "doing" as well as reading books. It means "hands-on" activities, from scientific and mathematical discoveries in our unique Exploratorium to creative artistic expressions in our glass-blowing lab. Our list of experiences is endless because everyday our universe expands a little more.
STUDENTS WHO BECOME TOMORROW'S LEADERS
99% of our students continue their education at the finest colleges and universities, in the U.S. and abroad. However, we don't just train young minds at Prairie, we shape productive members of society. Our students learn to become confident, tolerant, creative thinkers who, in achieving their personal best, understand their obligation to contribute their talents to their communities.
BUILDINGS SHAPED FOR LEARNING
Designed by Taliesin Associated Architects in the spatially liberating style of Frank Lloyd Wright, the very architecture of The Prairie School energizes the spirit and excites the mind. Built in 1965, the school overlooks the shores of Lake Michigan in Racine, Wisconsin. Surrounded by 22 acres of meadow, the graceful curves of our Wright-inspired buildings echo the contours of their surroundings and help us shape the contours of young minds.
