SEPTEMBER
Early:
- Register for fall SAT & ACT testing
- Plan when to send official ACT and/or SAT scores to colleges
- Begin finalizing the list of colleges to which you will apply – obtain applications
Middle:
- Ask 2-3 teachers if they will write recommendations for you. Give those teachers forms and stamped envelopes with deadlines ASAP.
- Work on college essays. You will receive guidance in your English class.
- Complete applications to colleges and universities with rolling admission processes.
September 20:
- Lake Forest Academy College Fair 7:00pm - 9:00pm
OCTOBER
Early:
- Register for financial aid CSS Profile if it is required by colleges to which you will apply (do this in September if applying Early Decision or Early Action). Adhere to individual college deadlines for completing Profile data thereafter.
October 15:
- Milwaukee National College Fair 12:00pm - 4:00pm
October 16:
- All applications must be completed and submitted to the College Counseling Office
NOVEMBER
Early:
- Early Decision and Early Action applications due to colleges
- Send SAT I and/or ACT scores to colleges with deadlines of January 1 or later *
* You may need to submit your scores earlier to some colleges and universities, especially if you are applying Early Decision or Early Action, or if you are applying to universities with rolling admission notification.
DECEMBER
- The Free Application for Federal Student Aid forms (the "FAFSA") should be available in the College Counseling office. Submit the FAFSA in early January.
- University of MN - Twin Cities applications are due by December 15.
JANUARY
- Submit FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1
- Make sure applications to UW-Madison are completed and mailed
FEBRUARY
February 1:
- Final deadline for UW-Madison applications (physical arrival date)
DECEMBER-APRIL
- Keep working in your classes. Grades will be sent to colleges throughout your senior year, and strong final grades will help students who are placed on college wait lists.
APRIL
Early:
- Receive decisions from colleges and universities
Middle:
- Visit final choices (overnight if possible)
- Make a non-refundable enrollment deposit at the college of your choice by May 1 (receipt date – not postmark date)
- Send a postcard to the colleges that you will not be attending informing them of where you will be enrolling
Reminder – If you complete any applications after our October 16th deadline, please give us ample lead time. You must submit all applications for colleges and universities, as well as scholarship applications, to the College Counseling Office at least 2 weeks before their deadlines.
