What Parents Like Most About Prairie
Innovative, Well-Rounded Academics
The leaders of the 21st century must learn to think globally, communicate effectively, work creatively, and function as a team. Our breadth of curriculum and our innovative faculty foster the development of such leaders, while stimulating the growth of individual talents and abilities.
Small Class Sizes, Individual Attention
The average student-to-faculty ratio at Prairie is 9 to 1, with a typical class size of 17. Small class sizes within a nurturing environment ensure personal attention.
Strong Emphasis On Values
Through our philosophy we call the “7 A’s,” The Prairie School shapes Academic, Artistic, Athletic, Altruistic, Active, Accountable, and Adaptable future leaders who stand ready for the challenges of tomorrow.
Beginning in their freshman year, students and their families become familiar with our College Counseling Office. Staffed by a full-time director and a part-time assistant director, the program offers the guidance needed to choose the right college, as well as assistance with the entire college application process.
Access To The Most Advanced Technology
Prairie's integration of technology into every level of the curriculum prepares students to be leaders in today’s technological world. Throughout the School students can connect to learning experiences through more than 500 computers. The Student Research Center (our SRC), an expanded library and technology center, features computer labs and laptops equipped with the latest software. And computer-linked SMART Boards in each school division provide an exciting, interactive institutional tool that transcends white boards and markers.
Consistent Communication With Families
The accessibility of faculty and staff is a great source of parent satisfaction here at Prairie. Through direct faculty interaction, parent meetings, newsletters, and electronic communications, Prairie continually reinforces its commitment to the educational triangle comprised of student, parent, and school. Communication breeds success.
A Beautiful, Secure Learning Environment
Designed by Taliesin Associated Architects in the spatially liberating
style of Frank Lloyd Wright, the very architecture of The Prairie
School energizes the spirit and excites the mind. Built in stages from 1965 on, the
school's 22-acre campus is surrounded by meadowlands and overlooks the shores of Lake Michigan in Racine, Wisconsin. The graceful curves of our
Wright-inspired buildings echo the contours of their surroundings and
complement the school’s commitment to call forth the personal best in all children, while celebrating their individual talents and abilities.
