Hawk's Haven Day Camp
Hawk's Haven Day Camp
For kids ages 3-12
Whether you're looking for a summer-long camp or an occasional change of pace, Hawk's Haven Day Camp enables your child to have a summer filled with fun and field trips, enrichment and exploration, and learning and laughter. Our programming is designed to ensure that each age group will enjoy a wide variety of experiences that are developmentally appropriate in a safe and secure environment. Dividing the summer into "theme weeks" provides structure and focus, but allows us to remain flexible and spontaneous enough to provide free choice and electives within the themes.
Campers enjoy time with children of their own age, but also experience the advantages of multi-aged groups on a regular basis. This ensures that siblings in various grades have an opportunity to spend time together and allows for leadership development of our older students as they "buddy up" with the younger ones!
The social, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs of each camper are addressed through:
- Recreation and playground time
- Arts and crafts projects
- Music, movement, and dramatic activities
- Learning games and "fun packs" in computer skills, mathematics, reading, and writing
- Community service projects
- Field trips, museum visits, and park excursions
Many exciting activities and adventures await campers this summer. We are confident that the Hawk's Haven Day Camp experience will fulfill the needs of both parents and campers!
Please Note: Children must be fully potty-trained in order to attend Hawk's Haven Day Camp. Three-year-olds will not attend field trips, as they are not eligible to ride the school bus. Hawk's Haven Day Camp will be closed on Friday, July 4.
Our weekly schedule includes:
MAD SCIENCE MONDAY
Due to the popularity of the "Mad Science" visits to The Prairie School, we will offer a sampling of Mad Science activities each Monday. The topics include: Sonic Sounds, Magnets, Mmm Taste, Life in the Seas, and many others.
TERRIFIC TUESDAY
Learn what treasures exist right in our own backyard! We will visit local parks, libraries, museums, and the zoo!
WILD-CARD WEDNESDAY
Dress up to celebrate the theme of the week or bring something to "show and tell!" In the afternoon, choose a wild-card activity - work on a project you enjoy week after week or sample something new each Wednesday. Offerings will include activities such as needlecrafts, scrapbooking, stamping, model-building, dramatics, weaving, and beadwork.
THRILLING THURSDAY
Thursday's thrills take us on field trips to places we enjoy simply for the fun of it! Some of our favorites include Adventure Rock (indoor rock climbing), ice skating, bowling, and competing in an old fashioned "tractor pull" at the Racine County Fair!
"FUN"TASTIC FRIDAY
You can never tell what might happen on "FUN"tastic Friday! Surprises may include a celebration of a funny "holiday" (have you ever celebrated National Watermelon Day?), an international lunch, or a guest storyteller.
