LEADERSHIP STARTING YEAR 1
CAMP MANITO-WISH
We host a college counseling lunch at the beginning of the year that is by advisory (10-15 kids each). The goal is to get to know the 9th graders a bit, introduce ourselves as a resource, assign the college counselor, and talk about getting off to a good start. It’s more philosophical than practical.
We also meet near the end of the year for a “finishing strong” message. We show 9th graders what a high school transcript looks like (most have never seen one before). It makes it all seem more real when they see the actual piece of paper that reflects their academic progress.
