US Track and Field – Hawks Going to State | 6/18/2021

Prairie is sending 6 athletes to LaCrosse for the State Meet. Camden Perry for the 100m, Sebby Babu for the 400m, and Makiyah Thompson, Mya Kennedy, Ava Collier-White, and Camden Perry for both the 4x100m and 4x200m relays. The State Meet is Thursday, June 24th.

US Track & Field – Many Hawks Heading to Sectionals | 6/15/2021

Hawks competed in their Regional Meet at Shorewood High School. The Hawks had many athletes finish in the Top 4, which advances them to Sectionals, and a chance to make it to the State Meet. The Hawks who advanced were:

US Track & Field Shines at Conference Meet | 6/10/2021

Prairie’s Track & Field placed in multiple events. The first place winners were: Makiyah Thompson (100m), Camden Perry (Long Jump), Girls’ 4x200m relay (Thompson, Mya Kennedy, Sophia Burch, Perry), and Boys’ 4x800m relay (David Clark, Wyatt Knoell, JP Jorgenson, Nolan Boerner). Second place finishes were: Camden Perry (100m), Asanjai Hunter (Long Jump), and Girls’ 4x100m relay (Makiyah Thompson, Mya Kennedy, Sophia Burch, Camden Perry). Third place finishers were: Sophia Burch (200m) and Boys’ 4x400m relay (Joey Scumaci, Jack Lopez, Vincent Praefke, Sebby Bebu).

US Boys’ Tennis Defeats Martin Luther | 6/1/2021

Prairie Boys take down Martin Luther 5-2. Winners for Prairie in the meet were Kethan Bajaj (1S), Taej Desai (2S), Mauricio Garduno (3S), Dan Dreifuerst and Quincey Eaton (1D), and Jo Morales and Calvin Sharpe (2D). Garduno had a 2 hour and 45 minute marathon at 3 singles! Both he and his opponent had trouble hanging on to the necessary momentum to close out the games. Garduno gained the momentum when needed in the tie-breakers to win the match.

LP Baseball Wins in Extra Innings vs BCC | 5/20/2021

Lutheran-Prairie went to extra innings to beat Catholic Central last night 7-6 in a home game at Simmons Field (Kenosha). The score was tied 6-6 heading to the bottom of the 8th inning. Henry Hoeft (Lutheran) reached on an error, stole second, moved to third on a groundout, and scored on Adam Langendorf’s one-out single over the right fielder’s head. Elliott Reske got the win on the mound, pitching three perfect innings of relief. Kody Krekling had a strong start, notching 10 strikeouts over five innings, allowing 7 hits and 3 earned runs.

US Girls’ Soccer 5-1 win over Shoreland Lutheran | 5/19/2021

The Hawks were led in scoring with a hat trick from Senior Captain, Erin Kutsch. Kutsch scored all three of her goals within 5 minutes of each other in the 2nd half. Goals also came from Amelia Ropiak and Aishani Dhar. Sarah Koker led the team with two assits, Helena Bucacek-Frazier and Kutsch assisted on goals as well.

US Boys’ Tennis Triumphs over Thomas More 6-1 | 5/18/21

Kethan Bajaj (1S), Jo Morales (2S), Taej Desai (3S), and Calvin Sharpe (4S) all won their respective flights. All in 2 matches, except for Bajaj. Bajaj fought back from losing the first match and forcing a tie breaker. In the tie breaker, Bajaj played the best fought points of his career to eek out a 10-7 victory. In 3 flights of Doubles, Prairie won 2. Quincy Eaton and Daniel Dreifuerst won 1Doubles in 2 matches. Elliot Swanson and Mauricio Garduño won 2Doubles in 3 matches.

US Baseball – LP’s Win on Road at BCC | 5/18/21

LP’s defeated BCC 2-0 at Beaumont Field in Burlington. Starting pitcher, Schmierer (Lutheran), got the win. Hultman (Lutheran) singled in Kody Krekling for the first run in the sixth inning. LP got an insurance run in the seventh inning when Adam Langendorf singled in Morales (Lutheran). Kody Krekling was credited with the Save.

US Baseball – LP’s win 4-3 over Martin Luther | 5/11/2021

Elliott Reske got a walkoff hit in the bottom of the 8th singling home Kody Krekling with the game-winning run. Kody also got the win on the mound, throwing three scoreless innings in relief of starter Jason Schmierer (Lutheran). Kody had two doubles and had an RBI; Adam Langendorf had a single, stolen base, and scored a run. L-P had just four hits against ML starter Jacob Hartlaub, who is heading to play Division I baseball at Ball State next year.

US Baseball – LP’s defeat Kenosha Christian Life 17-2 | 5/10/2021

Prairie Senior Kody Krekling went 3-3 with three doubles and was also hit by a pitch, scored 4 runs, and had 2 RBI. Elliott Reske also went 3-3, scoring three runs and adding two RBI.  John Hansen (Lutheran) pitched a complete game for the 5 inning win.

US Boys’ Golf – Roger Lofquist career/team low score | 5/8/2021

During the 2021 John Ashenfelter Invitational at Riverside Golf Course in Janesville, Roger Lofquest (2021) shot his lowest career score which was also the team low.

US Boys’ Tennis – Varsity win the County Tournament! | 5/8/2021

Congratulations on winning the Boys’ Varsity Tennis County Tournament at Burlington High School!  Singles results:  Kethan Bajaj placed 2nd in 1 Singles.  First place Singles finishers include:  Joe Morales (2S), Mauricio Garduño (3S), Taej Desai (4S).   Three flights of Doubles also placed first:  Quincy Eaton/Daniel Dreifuerst (1D), Elliott Swanson/Calvin Sharpe (2D) and Michael D’Alessandro/Ryan Matthew (3D).

US Girls’ Soccer – Hawks win season opener | 5/6/2021

With a final score of 4-1;  Hawks defeat West Allis Nathan Hale High School. Senior Helena Bukacek-Frazier scored 2 goals, the first in the 12th minute (off an assist by sophomore Sarah Koker and again in the 21st minute (Amelia Ropiak assist).  In the 16th minute, Koker scored off an assist by freshman Addy LaLonde. Ropiak scored unassisted in the 85th minute to finish the scoring.  For more details published in the Journal Times,  click here.

US Baseball – LP’s Defeat Dominican 18-8 | 4/29/2021

The LPs rallied to beat the Knights after being behind 6-1 in a six-inning game at a soggy Simmons Field in Kenosha that began an hour after the scheduled start time. The LPs really woke up and batted around, scoring 11 runs to take a 14-6 lead after four innings.

US Baseball – LP’s win season opener 5-3 | 4/27/2021

The LPs won their season-opener against Dominican at Aaron Field in Whitefish Bay. Pitching and hitting from Prairie senior Kody Krekling paired with a strong start from junior pitcher Ben Tietyen to claim the win.  Krekling had a double, run scored and recorded his first save of the season. 

US Boys’ Basketball D4 State Runner Up

The Hawks advanced to the final round after defeating Luther 61-46 in the semi-final to take on Lourdes (Oshkosh).  The Hawks dominated Lourdes in the first half but finished D4 State Runner Up at the buzzer 43-41.  The 2020-2021 team set a new record for most victories (24-4) in program history.  Congratulations on an amazing season!   Click here to view the complete Journal Times article.

Girls’ Basketball wins first D4 Postseason game | 2/9/2021

Prairie 41, Williams Bay 23. Sophie Lawler lead the Hawks with 15 points. Ava Collier-White scored 10 and had 5 steals.  Jaclyn Palmen had 6 rebounds. Boys’ Basketball hosts Horlick in a “Feel Good” story | 2/3/2021

Boys’ Basketball defeats Racine Lutheran | 2/1/2021

The Prairie Hawks defeat Racine Lutheran 70-53!  Senior Antuan Nesbitt went 9 for 9 from the floor and scored 18 points. Jacob Fallico went 4 for 8. At Sectionals, PSC Boys Swimming place 7th out of 11 teams and set 4 new team records noted below:

At Conference, PSC Boys’ Swimming places 6th and set 3 new team records.  With 10 individual events and 2 relays, the team had 10 best times.

Boys’ Swimming claims 2nd win | 1/20/2021

At a double dual, PSC Boys Swimming defeated Delevan, a team twice the size.  First place individual finishers against Delevan: Kadin Purath (200 Freestyle, 100 Butterfly), Timothy Peterson (200 Individual Medley), Erik Westman (50 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke) and Owen Andreason (500 Freestyle). First place relays against Delevan:  200 Freestyle: Kadin Purath, Timothy Peterson, Erick Westman & Owen Andreason; 400 Freestyle: Purath, Andreasen,  Westman & Peterson.

Girls’ Basketball wins again | 1/9/2021

With effective long range shooting, the Prairie Hawks defeat Catholic Central 53-46! Freshman Reese Jaramillo went 5 for 7 from 3-point range and finished with 19 points. Abby Decker was 2 for 3 from beyond the arc and added 12 points. Ava Collier-White (nine points) and Sophia Lawler (eight points) each added a 3-pointer. Boys’ Basketball defeats St. Thomas More | 1/8/2021

After 16 days off, Prairie defeats St. Thomas More 72-61. Ashe Oglesby added 14 rebounds. Asanjai Hunter went 4 for 6 from 3-point range and had 16 points and three assists. Girls’ Basketball claims another victory |  12/12/2020

Prairie Hawks crush St. Francis with a final score of 81-27.  Reese Jaramillo led four players in double figures with 18 points. Abby Decker added 14 and Ava Collier-White and Kenndi Hamilton had 11 each. Collier-White had seven steals for the Hawks (2-3) and Hamilton went 5 for 8 from the floor with four rebounds. Boys’ Swimming first win in program history! | 12/8/2020

On December 8th, 2020, the Boys’ PSC Aquatics co-op swimming team claimed their first team win since the program began 3 years ago at a “Double Dual” which included teams from Whitewater, PSC, Delavan-Darien, Edgerton-Evansville. The Hawks won their season opener against Living Word 46-23.  Ava Collier-White went 6 for 9 from the floor, including 3 for 4 from 3-point range in her first varsity game. Boys’ Soccer #1 Seed in D3 State Tournament | 11/4/2020

Fans may livestream the November 7th, 2020, D3 Boys’ Soccer State Tournament scheduled at Kewaskum High School on WIAA.TV. The winner of the #2 Seed game between the University School of Milwaukee and St. Lawrence Seminary (11AM) will play the winner of the #1 Seed game scheduled at 2PM between The Prairie School and Arcadia High School. The Championship Game begins at 7 PM. Good luck at State!

Boys’ Soccer D3 Sectional Champs | 10/31/2020

Boys’ Soccer defeats Lake Mills 4-0 tl claim another Sectional Championship title!  Prairie took the lead in the second minute with a goal scored by Junior Cameron McPhee. Senior Daniel Dreifuerst completed his second career hat trick with a penalty kick and two more goals.  Prairie’s strong defense against Lake Mills resulted in a second straight shoutout game.  Eric Morocco’s one-on-one defense along with midfielder Carsten Ovesen didn’t give one of Lake Mills strongest players a chance to score.  This was Junior Devin Stoltenberg’s thright straight shutout of the season. Girls’ Golf – 3 players named All State Academic  | 10/30/2020

Congratulations Emily Eitel (2021), Madeline Maraccini (2022) and Sophia Lawler (2023) for earning this designation of high honors! Students are nominated by GCAW member coaches if they meet the following criteria: 1) A cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25, 2) participation in at least 75% of their team’s varsity matches, and 3) are in grades 10-12.

Cross Country | 10/24/2020

Prairie won the boys’ race during the Division III Sectional at UW-Parkside, which means the entire squad qualified for the WIAA state meet! This is the fifth time in school history the Hawks will appear at the meet, and only the first time in seven years. PSC swimmers achieve several personals bests at Elkhorn!

First place finishers include:  Zoe Alessandro in two events: 200 Meter Individual Medley (2:44.65) and 100 Meter Breaststroke (1:21.59)

Girls’ Varsity Volleyball defeats Heritage Christian 3:1! Noteworthy contributions are as follows: Keep Williams 17 Kills, Amelia Ropiak 16 kills, Cate Yunker 48 assists and Abby Decker 6 blocks.

Girls’ Golf State Runner Up | 10/13/2020

Congratulations to Prairie’s Varsity Girls’ Golf team, who placed 2nd at the Division II State Golf Tournament!  The team finished with a two-day score of 579, just 19 strokes behind champion, and one stroke better than defending state champion.

Sophomore Sophia Lawler placed third overall. Click here to read the Racine Journal Times article about the team’s success. Since the Girls’ Golf program began at TPS in 2008, Prairie has won three Division II Championships (2010, 2015, 2016) as well as three runner-up finishes.

Girls’ Tennis – 5 Hawks advance to D2 Individual state  | 10/7/2020

Congratulations to the following girls for advancing to state scheduled for October 15th and 16th at Sports Core in Kohler: Molly Cookman (2022), 1 Singles special special qualifier; 1 Doubles partners Lily Jorgensen (2024) and Jaclyn Palmen (2023) special qualifiers;  and 2 Doubles partners Madelyn Dreifuerst (2022) and Gabi Davis (2021) automatic qualifiers.

Boys’ Cross Country wins St. Catherine’s Quadrangular | 10/5/2020

Prairie dominated the event at H.F. Johnson Park with five top finishers. Nolan Boerner was first in 19:05.01. Stephen McGravey-Tate was second in 19:09.9 and Vincent Praefke was third in 20:05.01. Cross Country Boys’ win the Prairie School Invitational | 10/1/2020

Competing against six area schools at  H.F. Johnson Park, the Boys’ Cross Country team earned 1st place, their second consecutive  Prairie School Cross Country Invitational victory, and the Girls’ placed second.

Girls’ Tennis back to back Conference Champs! | 9/26/2020

The Hawks scored 44 points to easily defeat Conference rivals. Prairie swept all three doubles championships and also won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Tori Walker defeated Caroline Roberts of Martin Luther 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2. Nareh Vartanian defeated Vicki Gonzalez of Martin Luther 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3. 

At No. 1, Lily Jorgenson and Jaclyn Palmen rolled to a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Kenosha St. Joseph’s Maddie and Katie Leinenweber 6-1, 7-5.

No. 2 Gabi Davis and Maggie Dreifuerst defeated Milwaukee Saint Thomas More’s Liz Wolf-Nowakowski and Alicia Caretta 6-1, 6-0.

Boys’ Soccer shut out Shoreland Lutheran 8-0 | 9/25/2020

The Homecoming game was action packed!  Daniel Dreifuerst scored a hat trick with two goals in the first seven minutes & a third goal in the second half as well as two first-half assists. Cam McPhee scored twice (Dreifuerst assist). Arjun Kumar scored one unassisted goal.  Henry Schumacher (Calvin Sharpe assist), Jayce Jaramillo (McPhee assist) completed the scoring.

Girls’ Golf placed 2nd at the Racine County Open | 9/14/2020

Sophomore Sophia Lawler, a second-team All-County player last year, took second with an 81. Lawler shot 39 on the Red course and was one of only two players to shoot under 40 on either course. Freshman Kadyn Peery (92), junior Maddie Maraccini (93) and senior Sarah Fosbinder (94) finished seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively.

Girls’ Tennis – Racine County Invitational | 9/14/2020

Nareh Vartanian (11) won the At No. 3 singles, beating Union Grove 6-1, 6-1. The Hawks also won at No. 4 singles as Madeline Nelson defeated Burlington’s Sam Taylor 6-4, 7-5 in the final match.  

Girls’ Swimming -Elk Invitational | 9/12/2020

PSC Aquatics (Prairie/St. Catherine’s) placed 4th, scoring 310 points, in the Elk Invitational.  All PSC athletes earned at least one medal.  

  • Zoe D’Alessandro (9): Scored 2nd in the  (FR) with a time of  1:23.76 in the 100 Meter Breaststroke  and 4th with a time of 1:23.76 in the 200 Meter Individual Medley. 
  • Lilie Larson (11) & Zoe D’Alessandro (9), Olivia Andreasen (SCHS 12) & Fien Meuleman (11)  placed 5th with a time of 2:31.88 in the 200 Meter Medley Relay. 
  • Georgia Swedberg (9), Olivia Andreasen (SCHS 12), Lizzy May (12),  Lilie Larson (11)  also placed 5th with a time of 2:26.72 in the 200 Meter Freestyle Relay.
