Braving the cold morning temperatures on Thursday, February 5, twenty-four Prairie students boarded the Metra train to Chicago to attend Model United Nations of the University of Chicago.
Students spent four busy days in committees at the Palmer House debating a broad range of topics from international medical patenting to improving education to slow the spread of terrorism. Our delegates, representing Ethiopia, worked with other high school students from the Midwest as well as students from Asia and Central America. Our students learned the most valuable of lessons, to truly assume the points of view of other global citizens. They also served on crisis committees, reconstructing the events surrounding the creation of the Irish Free State and the inner workings of Pakistan’s intelligence service.
Our students represented Prairie, Ethiopia and themselves with respect and great diplomatic acumen. Congratulations to them all.
