New to Prairie?
If the 2021-2022 school year marks your child’s first as a Prairie Hawk, please read through the information in this section. This applies to your new student, even if you have another child currently enrolled. If you are a returning family with no new students, you can scroll down to Step 1.

Attention 9th Grade Students: Join Us For 9th Grade Orientation and Open House on August 19th!
On Friday, August 19, the Upper School will host an Open House for all 9th Grade students at 10:00AM. Join us for this chance to get your schedule, walk through your day with an upperclassmen, meet your advisor, and more! Parents and students should watch their inboxes for more information the first week of August.

PowerSchool is the online system Prairie uses to track family contact information, student health records, and academic history.
Please click the adjacent button to login. Review and update the data in each section listed — first and foremost, “Student/Parent Information” and “Health/Medical Information” — for each child. Don’t forget to change the date and click ‘Submit’ at the bottom of each page, even if your data remains unchanged!

In an effort to make the FACTS platform even more helpful and interactive, the school has recently upgraded to a new version of the software, the Student Information System (SIS).
Prairie’s former FACTS website will be archived this Wednesday, August 25th. As such, all current FACTS users will need to create a new account/login information.
You can find detailed instructions about using your new FACTS account, including a 3-minute Family Portal overview video, by clicking the button to the left.

While stringent social distancing and safety guidelines will remain in place, Stay & Play services will be offered beginning at 7:30AM before school, and until 6:00PM after school. All new and returning MS students are expected to complete reading assignments over the summer.
New families: Some assignments may require your child to know their Prairie ID, email address, and Google Classroom information — all of which your child will receive during New Student Orientation. If questions arise, please contact the appropriate teacher — all contact information is included in the Summer Reading document.

Review Performing Arts Course Offerings
All new-to-Prairie parents and students should review the 2021-22 Performing Arts Course descriptions below with their child as soon as possible. Later this month, Kim Forsman, Middle School Administrative Assistant, will be contacting you regarding your child’s course preferences.
Register for MS Athletics
The registration portal will open at noon on Monday, July 19th. All registrations must be completed by 9:00AM on Friday, August 27th.
Grades 5/6: Prepare for Camp Timber-lee
All new and returning students in Grades 5/6 are required to join in this Outdoor Educational Experience shortly after school begins in the fall, to build relationships and get to know one another. Please read the pre-departure information (linked in the button below), prior to the trip! More information will become available in late August.

Complete Summer Reading
All new and returning US students are expected to complete reading assignments before classes resume in the fall.

Complete Summer Math
All returning US students should have received a Summer Math packet before the close of the 2020-2021 school year, and are expected to complete math assignments before classes resume in the fall.
New students are not required to complete Summer Math assignments, but if interested in doing so, may request a packet from Molly Lofquist Johnson in the Admission Office.

Register for US Athletics
The registration portal will open on Monday, July 19th. All registrations must be completed by 9:00AM on Wednesday, August 4th.
