Faculty Will Engage in First Professional Development Activity of the Year

Faculty Curriculum Day – Friday, October 24

No Classes; Stay & Play Open (registration required)

Great teachers help create great students. An inspiring and informed teacher can be the most important school-related factor influencing student achievement. At Prairie, we have the privilege to set aside resources for the ongoing development and training of our faculty. On Friday, October 24, faculty will engage in the first professional development activity of the year and will participate in collaborative meetings regarding Growth Mindset.

Growth Mindset is a simple idea conceived by world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck. When students and educators have a growth mindset, they understand that intelligence can be developed through dedication and hard work. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment. We look forward to great collaborative discussion amongst, faculty and divisions.

In addition to these meetings, the Primary School faculty will be involved in Math Training with Mary Freytag, Director of Math Matters, a consortium that provides Prairie with evidence-based information on top math methods and data.

Classes will not be in session on Friday, October 24; Stay & Play is open (7:15 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.). For planning purposes, we ask that families register no later than Monday, October 20. Please click here to register.
