Articles of Interest, College Admissions

Dear Upper School Parents,

As the May 1 college enrollment deadline looms, it’s not surprising that news articles about college admissions are popping up like spring crocuses.

Three particularly good ones appeared recently in The New York Times (links below).  I urge you to read them for 1) a perspective on the fierce competition in the top-tier colleges (for those of you whose students may be swimming in those waters); 2) some insight into the crazy world of financial aid offers; and 3) wise advice for students and parents about keeping college admissions in perspective.  I especially recommend this last piece!

Of course, much more can (and will) be said about the infinite variables in the college admissions process, but this is a good dose of information and insight at the moment.
