Our breadth of curriculum and our innovative faculty foster the development of leaders for the 21st century. We realize that every child is unique. As a result, we cultivate and nurture each student’s personality, perspective, and dreams so that they reach their true potential as students, thinkers, and individuals.
During the last seven years, 20 of the 38 National Merit semi-finalists in Racine graduated from Prairie School. The Prairie School Class of 2026 was offered merit scholarships totaling approximately $9,341,848 and received 328 offers of admission from 189 of the finest colleges and universities across the country.
Prairie offers 15 Advanced Placement courses (AP English, AP Statistics, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Music Theory, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, AP Physics 2, AP World History, AP U.S. History, AP Comparative Government, AP French, AP Spanish, and AP 2-D Art).
Additionally, Prairie is one of the few schools in the country selected to participate in the Malone Schools Online Network (as one of 50+ schools nationwide receiving a Malone Scholars Program endowment). This is an outstanding opportunity for highly motivated, disciplined, and often highly accomplished students to take live-time courses with peers from around the country in subjects that high schools cannot typically offer. Prairie also participates in One Schoolhouse, further bolstering the school’s curriculum.
With the exception of Chemistry and Intermediate Algebra, all academic courses are taught at the honors level or higher.
Prairie’s computer science and information systems program offers Upper School students the opportunity to take classes such as Computer Science Discovery and AP Computer Science Principles. Primary School students participate in Prairie’s Lego League Robotics Club, while Middle Schools students participate in Robotics and Coding Club.
Prairie’s commitment to fostering creativity is evident all over campus. Here are just a few ways our students are continually encouraged to express themselves.
- Prairie is one the few schools in the country to have its very own Glassblowing Studio on campus. Students can take glassblowing courses starting in Middle School.
- Our Performing Arts Department recruits the finest tutors in Southeastern Wisconsin to offer private music lessons to interested students.
- Student musicians in Middle and Upper School routinely practice and record music in the school’s Music Technology Lab.
The average student-to-faculty ratio at Prairie is 9 to 1, with a typical class size of 17. Small class sizes within a nurturing environment ensure personal attention.
Prairie’s Honor Committee, comprised of eleven peer-elected students in Grades 10-12, is responsible for upholding the pillars of honesty, integrity, accountability, mutual respect, and shared trust among all members of the community. This group and a faculty advisor meet to review issues of cheating, plagiarism, theft, and vandalism. If a student is accused of an honor violation, the Honor Committee is convened to review the situation.
