Busing

In addition to offering busing for local Racine families via the Racine Unified School District, Prairie is also happy to offer private busing for our families to the north (Franklin/Oak Creek) and to the south (Kenosha).

Travel times from these areas can sometimes make drop-off and pick-up difficult. Operating the Franklin and Kenosha buses makes Prairie a possibility for more of our commuter families.

As the buses arrive and depart each day, all students are welcomed by members of the Prairie faculty. Young children are walked to their classrooms by a teacher.

Racine Area Busing

For students living in the Racine area, busing is provided on behalf of the Racine Unified School District (RUSD) and is included with the cost of Prairie’s tuition.

Prairie will submit family information to the RUSD each spring and information including pick-up, drop-off and route numbers will be mailed to our families during the summer. Additional information can be located on the RUSD Transportation website or by contacting Kim Forsman, Prairie Registrar, at 262-752-2551.

Kenosha Area Busing

Route Begins at HWY 31 & HWY 50

Prairie provides private bus service for all our families in the Kenosha area at an annual cost of $500 per student, with a per-family cap of $1,000. Interested families are encouraged to contact Molly Lofquist Johnson at 262.752.2525 to learn the specifics of this route and to secure their seat.

In the past, Prairie families residing in Illinois have driven north to put their kids on the Kenosha-area bus, thus greatly reducing their commute and travel time.

Oak Creek/Franklin-area Busing

Route Begins at HWY 100 & Drexel Ave.

Prairie provides private bus service for all our families in the Kenosha area at an annual cost of $500 per student, with a per-family cap of $1,000. Interested families are encouraged to contact Molly Lofquist Johnson at 262.752.2525 to learn the specifics of this route and to secure their seat.

Carpooling

In the interest of doing our part to help the environment by reducing vehicle emissions, Prairie is happy to help our families arrange carpools to and from school as desired. The best way to start this process is as follows:

  • Access the Family Directory in PowerSchool; use your Prairie PowerSchool username and password to access this secure webpage
  • Login to the Family Directory
  • Perform a search by zip code and/or grade level to identify potential families with which to carpool
  • Contact families to arrange carpools

If families are in need of assistance making acquaintances or setting-up carpools, don’t hesitate to contact Molly at 262.752.2525.

Our Address: 4050 Lighthouse Drive, Wind Point Wisconsin 53402.
