Hawk You Should Know

By Meghan Benson | Primary School, Student Life

Students recognized as a Hawk You Should Know are nominated by the Prairie faculty. Submissions are open to all teachers, coaches, advisors, etc.

This week’s Hawk was nominated by Nicole Bayer.

Meet Evelyn Nelson ’34, a leader who brings positivity, empathy, and integrity to every corner of campus.

Evelyn’s classmates and teachers know her as someone who leads with heart. With a strong growth mindset and a cheerful outlook, she encourages others to try new things, take on challenges, and treat everyone with compassion. “Evelyn consistently demonstrates kindness, empathy, and integrity in all that she does,” said 3rd Grade teacher Nicole Bayer. “Her positive attitude and actions set a powerful example for her peers — she’s a true role model in our school community.”

What Being a Hawk Means to Evelyn:

“I like it a lot. I like how it makes me feel a part of a community. I like all the games that we get to play. I enjoy being a role model, and being an older buddy allows me to do that. And… I love all the teachers!

Evelyn’s strong sense of self, growth mindset, and big heart make her a Hawk we’re proud to know.
