Girls' Soccer
The Hawks traveled to UW-La Crosse for an invite over the weekend and fell 3-1 to Division 1 state-ranked Cedarburg on Friday night. Having difficulty settling into the game, the girls couldn’t match the speed of thought and quick passing. Eventually making some adjustments and working their way into the game, Meg Decker ’25 scored the Hawks’ lone goal on a PK.
12 hours later, the Hawks took on another state-ranked opponent in Division 3 Sugar River on Saturday morning. Starting strong and controlling the tempo early allowed the Hawks to take a 3-0 halftime lead, including a PK save from Finley Remington ’27 to keep the Raiders scoreless at half. Decker and Keira Kimbrough ’27 each added a hat trick for the Hawks, with Elle Jaramillo ’26 adding a goal en route to a 7-1 win. “It was a solid performance from start to finish,“ said Coach Joe Manley.
Keeping up their momentum from the Saturday win, the Hawks faced a tough Division 2 opponent in Homestead. “We brought the intensity we found in La Crosse to this game, and it was a series of 1v1 battles all over the pitch,“ said Coach Manley. “We did well to maintain our composure and began to open up dangerous spaces while limiting theirs.“ The Hawks jumped to a 1-0 lead on a goal by Norah Boerner ’25 before Homestead evened things up. After gaining a 2-1 advantage on a Decker goal, Homestead again evened the score. That’s all the scoring the Highlanders would do after the Hawks found patience in their possessions to create better chances. Decker and Boerner each scored their second goal of the game, and Homestead added an own goal for a final score of 5-2. Coach Manley credited the play of Sydney Dues ’25 as crucial to the Hawks finding their second half rhythm.
