Boys' Basketball
Senior basketball player Carsen Eeg has been selected for the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game. Carsen, a four-year varsity member of the basketball team and three-year starter and captain, becomes Prairie’s fifth boys’ player to be selected for this prestigious event. “It is a well-deserved honor for him and a great way to officially close his high school career,” says Coach Jason Atanasoff. “He has certainly grown and improved a ton as a player during his career, but his growth as a leader and a person has been even more impressive. I look forward to seeing him lace them up again to represent The Prairie School Hawks.” The All-Star Game, on June 26th in Wisconsin Dells, features stand-out seniors from each WIAA Division and is a powerful vehicle for giving back to the community through philanthropic partnerships, with every dollar raised going to five local charities. If you are interested in donating to the event in support of Carsen, please see his All-Star Game page. Congratulations Carsen!

Boys' and Girls' Track
At a rainy Racine County Invite in Burlington on Thursday, May 1st, it was another record-breaking day for Amiyah Galica ’26. She took down our 20-year-old school record in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 15.95 and earned second place. In addition to the fallen record, the Hawks had several medalists, including a first place finish by the girls’ 4×100 relay team and second place finishes by Carly Lopez ’25 (1600M), Izzy Baumgardt ’25 (300 Hurdles), Bridget Cafferty ’25 (800M), and Jackson Meier ’27 (300 Hurdles). Taking third place were Anmi Tao ’26 (400M), Winter Schienke ’25 (shotput), and Ty Ouradnik ’27 (3200M). With fourth place finishes were Schienke (discus), Carly Lopez (800M), and the Boys’ 4×100 relay team. The Boys’ 4×200 team took fifth place, as did Helina Slamka ’28 in the high jump. JJ Barnes ’25 (100M) and the Boys’ 4×400 relay took 6th, while Larkin Hrouda ’25 (100M), Alex Dickey ’26 (discus), and Abby Lopez ’25 (200M) took 7th. Maurice Carter ’26 rounded out the top ten finishers with 8th place in the long jump. In addition to our medalists, the Hawks also saw PRs from William Black ’25 (800M), Matthew Chadwick ’26 (shotput), Jonah Gasser ’28 (long jump), Erin Gerdes ’26 (100 Hurdles), Soleil Johnson ’28 (200M), Liam Regner ’28 (100M), Jack Warner ’27 (400M), and Meg White ’28 (long jump).
Girls' Soccer
Taking on Westosha at home on Friday, May 2nd, the Hawks started the game well and dominated large portions of the possession. Losing some sharpness in the second half, the girls were still able to break through with a run by Emma Meier ’28, who scored her first varsity goal on a decisive through ball from Norah Boerner ’25. Meier’s goal proved decisive as the Hawks won 1-0. “We need games like that to prepare us for the postseason, and I admired how the girls played throughout,“ said Coach Joe Manley.
In another ranked matchup at Lake Country Lutheran (#8 in Division 4) on Monday, May 5th, the Hawks jumped out quickly with a goal from Meg Decker ’25, assisted by Keira Kimbrough ’27 in the 5th minute. Despite not playing as sharply as they would have liked, Kimbrough picked up a second assist as she played a ball to Boerner, who finished well in the box and allowed the Hawks to take a 2-0 halftime lead. After the break and some personnel rotations, Decker set up Kimbrough for a goal shortly after halftime. In her third assist of the game, it was again Kimbrough setting up Decker for her second goal, bringing the score to 4-0. The Lightning scored on a free kick but could not break through after that in the 4-1 game.
Girls’ Soccer played Martin Luther in a windy home game on Wednesday, May 7th, and took care of business in 60 minutes. Behind three goals from Decker, two each from Boerner, Kimbrough, and Meier, and goals from Elle Jaramillo ’26, Victoria Rivera ’28, Meghan Gavigan ’27, Maeve Harbour ’27, Nicole Ginestel ’27, and Luiza Jaime ’27, the Hawks cruised to a mercy rule victory, 15-0.
LP Baseball
In their third game in four days, the LPs took on Bradford in Kenosha on Thursday, May 1st, and kept the game close until the bottom of the 5th inning following a great pitching performance from Liam Adams ’28 (four-plus IP, three ER, four strikeouts). Going into the bottom of the 5th, the LPs trailed 2-1 when the Bradford bats woke up. Combined with walks and hit batters, the LPs ended the frame down 10-1, which was the final score. Gabe Posnanski ’26 drove in the only run for the LPs, and Kyler Godson ’28 went 1-3 with a single.
Facing cross-town rival Case on Monday, May 5th, the LPs made some mistakes and found themselves in an early 8-1 hole against the Eagles. The boys were able to clean up the defense, including some great catches in center field by Godson, and get the bats going to tie the game at eight going into the bottom of the 7th inning. With the bases loaded and no outs, the LPs gave up a walk-off grand slam to the Eagles and fell 12-8. Posnanski went 2-4 with two RBI and a run scored, and Jack Hood ’27 went 1-2 with two RBI in the loss.
The LPs took on conference-leading Thomas More in a rare home game at The Rock Sports Complex on Tuesday, May 6th, and lost 6-1 to the Cavaliers. Godson hit a double, and Posnanski had a triple, but a 5-run second inning by Thomas More was too much for the LPs to overcome. Owen Larsen, ’27, pitched three innings of one-run relief.
Taking on the Cavaliers again on Thursday, May 8th, at Thomas More, the boys put up a fight and had a 14-13 lead going into the bottom of the 6th inning. Some defensive miscues, however, allowed Thomas More to come back and win the game 18-15. However, it was a breakthrough game for the LP bats, including Posnanski going 3-5 with 5 RBI, Hood going 1-2 with two walks, and Godson going 3-5 with an RBI and a double.
Boys' Golf
After a 90+ minute rain delay at Meadowbrook on Thursday, May 1st, the Boys’ Golf team had a strong showing in the county golf meet, finishing fourth overall behind powerful Waterford, Case, and Union Grove teams. Will Schaefer ’25 led the Hawks with an 84 and came in 10th place as an individual. Connor Peery ’27 had a consistent day, shooting 43 on both nines to finish with an 86. Jack Regner ’25 shot an 89, while Jack Ulrich ’26 and Cai Yoo ’26 shot 94 and 95, respectively.
The Hawks traveled to Janesville on Saturday, May 3rd, and shot their best team score of the season with a 341. With every player scoring in the 80s, Coach Carrie Massey is excited by her team’s progress. Peery shot a team-best 83, followed by Schaefer and Regner with 85s, and Ulrich with an 89.
In a windy double mini-meet at Brown Deer Golf Course, the Hawks emerged as winners. Taking on the rest of the conference, the boys shot a 170 as a team on the front nine and a 186 on the back, besting all other teams. Ulrich and Cooper Tollaksen ’28 led the squad on the front nine, each shooting 41, with Regner and Schaefer each carding 44 while Yoo added 50. Regner and Schaefer led the team on the back nine with 45, Ulrich shot a 47, and Yoo and Tollaksen added a 49.
Boys' Tennis
Boys’ tennis took on conference rival St. Catherine’s/Lutheran on Tuesday, May 6th, and prevailed 6-1 at Lockwood Park. Only falling in Number 1 singles, the Hawks swept doubles matches. Jon Orth ’25 and Musa Rahman ’25 (#1 Doubles) and Alex Solodio ’25 and Cole Johnson ’27 (#2 Singles) did not give up any games in their resounding 6-0, 6-0 wins. Kelly Baker ’25 and Colin Smith ’28 (#3 Doubles) had a convincing 6-0, 6-2 victory. In singles matches, Brayden Comaris ’27 (#2 Singles) won 6-3, 6-4, and Eric Baptista ’28 (#3 Singles) won 6-2, 6-2. Gabi Kuvshinikov ’25 (#4 Singles) won via forfeit.
In a tough matchup against New Berlin Eisenhower at New Berlin on Wednesday, May 7th, the boys had trouble gaining any ground against the Lions. Picking up the only win for the Hawks in the 1-6 loss was Kuvshinikov, who beat his opponent in an exciting tiebreaker match, 2-6, 7-5, 10-8.
