Recaps for the Week of 9/7

Boys’ Soccer
TPS took on sectional opponent Brookfield Academy on Tuesday and won 1-0.

After conceding too many chances early, Victor Rossi ’28 played a wonderful transition ball to Phil Ginestel ’27 who pulled away from his defender and tucked the ball into the corner of the net. Both teams created chances throughout, and the Hawks executed their plan well. Dalton Ahlensdorf ’27 came up big with some saves to keep the clean sheet throughout.

“He deserves credit for his leadership and shot stopping”, said Coach Joe Manley.

Girls’ Golf
At Pleasant View Golf Course on Saturday September 5th, the Hawks got off to a rough start on a wet course. After struggling on the front nine, they turned their game around on the back. Maddie Wruck ’29 led the Hawks with a 93. Alivia Arnone ’27 shot a 101, while Eleanor Pitts ’28 and Willa Modder ’27 each carded a 104.

At Johnson Park on Tuesday the Hawks played in a conference mini meet and shot a season-best team score of 184. Arnone led the Hawks with a 43, followed by Wruck with a 45, Pitts with a 47, and Modder with a 49.

“The girls have been working extremely hard and have been practicing on their off-time and it paid off with a really nice round,” said Coach Carrie Massey. “I am extremely pleased with how they came back after their rough start in Saturday’s invitational.”

XC
Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country raced in the annual Rebel Invite at UW-Parkside on September 5th in hot, humid, and muddy conditions. A change in the usual race course at UW-Parkside was handled well and several runners maintained similar race pace on a hilly course. Helina Slamka ’28 and Eleanor Burwell ’29 each made the podium as top 15 finishers.

Swim
Taking on their first meet under new head coach Shawn Ribordy, the girls of PSC Aquatics competed in six events at the SLC Relays and finished 10th as a team. Each swimmer competed in the maximum 4 events. The team notched a 7th place finish in the 400 Backstroke Relay with Leila Govednik (SC) , Cora Huggins ’29, Jessica Gonzalez ’29, and Phoebe Martinez ’28 each swimming a leg.

Girls’ Tennis
In their annual match against Kohler High School on September 4th, the Hawks won 4-3 leaning on a strong finish in doubles to secure the dual-meet win. Kohler took the top two singles matches, but Prairie answered by winning the next two singles and two of the three doubles courts.

In a conference match against Racine St. Catherine’s on Tuesday, the Hawks came away with a 7-0 sweep of the Angels. Conceding only 2 games throughout the match, TPS won every set to move to 8-2 on the season.

Girls’ Volleyball
The Hawks won their inaugural Prairie Cup tournament in the Johnson Athletic Center on Saturday, September 5th behind a solid all-around performance from the girls.

Prairie went undefeated through four matches to claim the championship thanks to an offensive attack led by Addison Zaleski ’27, who posted a team-high 31 kills on a .215 hitting percentage.

Brailey Johnson ’27 was right behind her with 28 kills and an efficient .277 clip, while Lilah Holle ’29 contributed 25 kills at an impressive .327.

Isabelle Wassweiler ’27 was the team’s most efficient attacker on the day, hitting .429 with 19 kills.

The Hawks’ serving was a clear weapon throughout the tournament as well, with Johnson leading all players with 13 aces, followed by Johanna Pardo ’30 with 7. The team combined for 34 aces in the tournament.

Zaleski led the team with 27 digs, with Emmaleigh Meier ’28 right behind at 26. Meier also anchored the serve receive unit, handling 41 balls with a 1.95 rating.

Recaps for the Week of 8/31

Boys’ Soccer
Last Friday the Hawks kicked off their season against 2025 State Finalist Sturgeon Bay. Despite competing well, the Hawks couldn’t create and take the necessary chances to make an impact and fell 2-0.

Coach Joe Manley credited the midfield play of Braden Harlan ’28 and Adib Khalek ’27, but noted the team as a whole lacked a cutting edge. “It’s early in the season,” said Manley. “We’re looking to build on the early performances and find a level of consistency.”

The next day, the boys took on University School and lost 1-0 on late penalty kick by the Wildcats. Goalkeeper Dalton Ahlensdorf ’27 had a commanding presence over his goal box and notched 10 saves in the loss. “At the moment, we are struggling to find a rhythm in our possession,” noted Manley, “I’m confident the boys will continue to work hard and we’ll find a formula.”

TPS got into the win column against Park on Thursday with a 6-1 victory over the Panthers. Controlling the game from start to finish, the Hawks struck early with a goal from Adib Khalek ’27 before the Panthers converted a PK to even the score. Gavin Sidhu ’29 added a goal, and Victor Rossi ’28 converted a PK to make it 3-1 at halftime. Yasser Stewart ’27, James Aragones ’29, and Rossi added second half goals for the Hawks.

Girls’ Golf
On Monday the Hawks hosted a conference mini-meet at Johnson Park and finished in second place overall.

Maddie Wruck ’29 led the team with a 45 and a third place finish as an individual. Alivia Arnone ’27 shot a 49, while Willa Modder ’27 and Eleanor Pitts ’28 shot a 50 and 52, respectively. “We struggled a bit with our putting, but overall I’m really pleased with the progress that we are making as a team,” said Coach Carrie Massey.

Girls’ Tennis
Last Weekend the Hawks hit the court for a tournament that pitted them in dual matches against Union Grove, Shoreland, Dominican, Bradford, and West DePere.

Against Bradford, the Hawks emerged with a 5-2 win with wins at No. 2, 3, and 4 singles and a No. 2 and 3 doubles win to secure the dual meet victory.

In the 5-2 loss to Union Grove, the Hawks pulled out wins at No. 3 singles (Valencia McNeely ’30) and No. 1 doubles (Maeve Harbour ’27 and Hiba Rahman ’27).

Facing West DePere, the Hawks were overmatched and swept 7-0 by the Phantoms with the closest match being a hard fought battle at No. 1 singles by Rahman and Harbour that they dropped 6-4, 6-4.

The Hawks got back in the win column, though, with clean 7-0 sweeps over Dominican and Shoreland Lutheran.

Girls’ Volleyball
The Hawks went 2-3 in a five-game opening tournament with wins over Christian Life School (2-1) and Horlick (2-0) before dropping games to Fort Atkinson (1-2), Wilmot (0-2), and Mount Horeb (0-2).

Across the day the team recorded 101 kills, 126 digs, and 44 aces, showing the offense and back-row defense both stayed active even as the results cooled off in the second half of the day.

Addy Zaleski ’27 was the standout of the day, leading the team with 27 kills and 26 digs while adding 14 aces from the service line — a performance that anchored Prairie’s offense. Middle blocker Isabelle Wassweiler ’27 backed her up by posting 18 kills at a .200 hitting efficiency, the best clip among the team’s high-volume hitters. Setter Lily MacDonald ’29 ran the offense all day, dishing out 79 assists on 268 setting attempts to keep the ball moving to her hitters.

Recaps for the Week of 8/24

 

Cross Country

The Hawks competed Thursday at the Milwaukee River CC Invite at Veterans Park, a season-opening event that featured 359 girls and 368 boys.

Helina Slamka ’28 broke her own school record (20:31.1) and earned medalist honors with a 25th place finish. Oliver Pearson ’30 also medaled with a time of 17:38.6 in his first high school race, placing 37th.

Eleanor Burwell ’29 and Martin Ostergaard ’29 earned PRs in the race.

“We have a lot to work on across the board,” said Coach Shawn Burwell. “But I am so proud of everyone on this first meet. So much to build upon.”

Girls Golf
TPS placed third at their conference mini-meet at Bristol Oaks on Monday with a score of 207.

Alivia Arnone ’27 took 4th overall with a score of 46, while Eleanor Pitts ’28 and Maddie Wruck ’29 each carded a 50. Ella Stoner ’27 rounded out the scoring with a 61.

“Overall I was pleased with our play,” said Coach Carrie Massey. “The girls are beginning to hit the ball better and more consistently.”

The Hawks played their first 18-hole match of the season at the Tremper Invite at Bristol Oaks Golf Club on Wednesday and shot a 405 to earn third place. Eleanor Pitts ’28 led the Hawks with a 92, including a birdie on the 16th hole. Alivia Arnone ’27 added a 98, while Willa Modder ’27 carded a 100 including a 5th hole birdie. Ella Stoner ’27 added a 115.

“I’m very pleased with how they handled themselves on the golf course,” said Massey. “Their course management, decision making, and overall ball striking has made nice progress. Our next goal will be to break 400.”

Girls’ Golf
The Hawks teed off on the fall season with their first SEC Mini-Meet of the year at Ives Grove on August 13th taking second place with a team score of 206. Franklin High School won the event with a score of 180.

Willa Modder ’27 shot the low score for TPS and finished 6th overall with a 48. Eleanor Pitts ’28 carded a 49 while Maddie Wruck ’29 (53) and Ella Stoner ’27 (56) rounded out the scoring for the Hawks.

“I’m very pleased with how the girls came out and played today,” said Coach Carrie Massey. “Their ball striking has improved greatly from last year. We just need to work on scoring.”
