The impressive artwork created by Prairie’s students continues to paint a picture of the abundant talent and creativity here on campus.

After four Upper School students had their work selected last semester for display at the Mathis Gallery at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Vicki Schmitz, Art Department Chair, was recently informed that four students were also recognized as award recipients in the prestigious regional Scholastic Art and Writing contest.

Yingmei Tao ’24 (Silver Key for Drawing and Illustration), Sophia Baptista ’24 (Honorable Mention for Photography), Cece Berkey ’24 (Honorable Mention for Drawing and Illustration), and Jizel Diaz ’27 (Honorable Mention for Painting), were all honored by the selection committee for their outstanding work.

As a Silver Key winner, Tao’s piece will be on display at the Milwaukee Art Museum from February 24th through April 7th.

Meanwhile, Berkey was the only Prairie School student to have work selected for both the Mathis Gallery and Scholastic Art contest.

Congratulations, artists. Keep creating.
